Mix rich navy with water and pour it over the lower part of your canvas.

Use your hand and/or brush to spread the paint across your canvas to create a soft base. Don't worry about creating a perfectly straight edge. Let it dry.

Mix the same paint with a little less water, and add a second layer lower down the canvas. Spread it out with your hand. Let it dry.

Mix a little black with rich navy and a little less water again, then pour it across the bottom of the canvas.

Paint used: 703 + 759

Use your hand to spread it across the bottom, leaving a soft uneven edge where it meets the layer above.
